Found this jar in Germany. An interesting packaging choice for one. What exactly is an "American Style" dug?
Almost every city in America has it's own style. New York likes to serve a dug up with steamed onions and mustud. Chicago serves them with mustud, relish, raw onion (chopped), pickle spear, peppers, tomato slices, and celery salt. This one looks like it may have chili on it, with sliced pickles draped over the top. I decided against taking these bad boys home.
I don't know German, so I had no idea if these are pickled dugs or not. Something about a bunch of dugs floating in vinegar seems like something you'd only eat on a bet at the shadiest dive bar in town. Sorry Germany. Frankly, I'm a little beside myself about this one.
But, I can't hate on them too much. After all, they remain the kings of variety of wurst sausages. So for that, thanks, but no thanks on the jar of dugs.
