The best dogs are obviously the mixed meats (chicken, pork) with the snappy casing that provides that explosion of grease and flavor upon its breaching. Some will argue that all beef dugs are superior, something I strongly refuse to accept. Beef "hot dogs" are just beef sticks, and often do not come with the snappy outer casing of more mysterious mixtures.
You aren't supposed to know what the ingredients are, that is part of the excitement and lure of choking down a few dugs. All beef tells me its just beef, with maybe a few hard-to-pronounce preservatives mixed in.
That being said, if you happen to be stuck in the middle of the woods with no real dugs around to roast up and are left with no choice but to fire up a jumbo all beefer, the best method of preparation is to burn the hell out of it on some open flames and enjoy it on a sandy beach with a view of a lake. Nothing says contrast like an all beef stick, burnt to a crisp, lathered with mustud in the foreground of the secluded, pristine wilderness of Maine.
